Joint controllership

IU Group processes personal data on a subject-related basis in joint controllership with other companies belonging to the Group. Activities connected with IU International University are carried out in joint controllership with IU Internationale Hochschule GmbH. Recipients and third-country transfers

Only employees responsible for a specific task have access to personal data. IU Group also relies on service providers for operation of IT systems and other business activities, with appropriate data processing agreements in place. Transfers to third countries are described for the respective application and are generally safeguarded using EU standard contractual clauses.

Consent and retention

You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. Personal data is generally deleted when it is no longer needed for the required purpose and no retention obligations apply. Depending on the processing purpose, statutory retention periods may apply.

2. Data Collection When Visiting the Website

When using the Website for informational purposes only, IU Group collects data that your browser transmits to the server. This includes the visited page, date and time of access, quantity of data transmitted, source or reference, browser, operating system and IP address. The processing serves to provide a functional website and improve its stability and functionality.

3. Cookies

Depending on your browser settings and consent, cookies may be used to extend Website functionality and make it more convenient to use. Cookie settings, including storage durations, are available in the Cookie Consent Tool. Necessary cookies are used on the basis of legitimate interests; marketing and analysis cookies are used on the basis of consent.

4. Cookie Consent Tool

The IU Group website uses the cookie consent tool of Usercentrics GmbH, Rosental 4, 80331 Munich, Germany. The tool collects and stores consent settings so that cookies requiring consent are only used after consent has been granted.

If you contact IU Group by email, your email address and any additional personal data you provide are processed in order to respond to your inquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

6. Communication with journalists and press representatives

IU processes names, contact details, professional activity information and communication content from press representatives and journalists for public relations and direct communication. Services such as Meltwater and PressPage may be used under appropriate data processing agreements.

7. Web Analysis Services

Subject to consent, IU Group uses analysis services to understand visitor behaviour, improve the Website and evaluate digital marketing efforts. Cookie settings provide further information about the related processing.

7.1 Google Analytics

Google Analytics is used to understand website usage, visitor behaviour and digital marketing effectiveness. IU Group receives reports based on aggregated data sets and cannot draw conclusions about your identity from those reports.

8. Google Tag Manager

This Website uses Google Tag Manager, a service of Google Ireland Ltd., to deploy and manage tags such as analytics and marketing tools. Use of Google Tag Manager is based on consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, which may be withdrawn with effect for the future.

9. Social Media

Clicking on links to social media providers takes you to their respective websites. Data processing on those websites is governed by the privacy policy that applies there. IU Group has no influence on that processing.

10. Rights of Data Subject

You may contact IU Group at datenschutz@iu.org to exercise rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, data portability and withdrawal of consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

11. Why Do We Collect Your Personal Data?

You may choose not to provide personal data or provide incomplete data. In that case, some Website functions may not be available. In the context of an admission procedure or job application, IU Group may not be able to accept you as a student or offer the opportunity to participate in a job application procedure.
